DHU Empowers TVET Students with Real-World Experience at CTRM

MELAKA – DRB-HICOM University of Automotive Malaysia (DHU) continues to strengthen Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes by offering students real-world industry exposure through collaborations with industry players.

Recently, Kosmo! met with three DHU alumni who are now serving at CTRM Aero Composites Sdn Bhd (CTRM), one of the leading aerospace composite manufacturers in Malaysia.

Through the 2u2i programme, students spend two years at the university and two years in the industry, enabling them to gain practical skills and adapt to real working environments.

Muhammad Hafizuddin Haziq, who is attached to CTRM’s Engineering & Technology department, said that the opportunity provided him with hands-on learning that complemented his academic knowledge.

“The exposure at CTRM has helped me gain confidence in applying theoretical knowledge into practice. This has been invaluable in preparing me for challenges in the aerospace industry,” he shared.

Meanwhile, Mohamad Hafiz Mingsukang and Wan Ahmad Muazzam, both from CTRM’s Quality department, agreed that the programme had given them a competitive edge.

“We are more prepared to enter the workforce because we have already experienced the work environment. It helps us to be industry-ready,” they said.

According to them, DHU’s initiative not only enhances graduates’ employability but also supports the government’s aspiration to produce a skilled workforce, especially in high-technology industries such as aerospace.

The collaboration between DHU and CTRM demonstrates the success of integrating academic learning with industrial training — a model that ensures Malaysia continues to build a strong pool of local talent in the aerospace sector.
