CTRM CLINCHED THE ‘ANUGERAH KECEMERLANGAN INDUSTRI (AKI)’ 2024

MALAYSIA, Kuala Lumpur, 11 June 2024: Composites Technology Research Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (“CTRM”), an advanced composite aerostructures manufacturing company (wholly owned by DRB-HICOM Berhad), has reached a noteworthy achievement by being honoured with the esteemed Prime Minister Award and the Manufacturing Sector Excellence Award in category 3 (for sales turnover exceeding RM100 million), in the Anugerah Kecemerlangan Industri (AKI) 2023/24 edition. The AKI, or Industry Excellence Award, is a government initiative that acknowledges companies that have consistently exhibited excellence in their management practices, product and service quality, and the ability to continuously provide greater value to their stakeholders. 

The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) first introduced AKI in 1991, using the Malaysia Business Excellence Framework (MBEF) as the benchmark criteria for the assessment and evaluation procedure. Malaysia’s Prime Minister, YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, graced the event in KL, presenting the awards to the winners. DRB-HICOM’s Group Managing Director, Tan Sri Syed Faisal Albar, was on stage receiving the Grand Prize before handing it over to Shamsuddin Mohamed Yusof, CTRM CEO, who received the award on behalf of CTRM.

“This acknowledgment confirms that CTRM’s initiatives and ongoing improvement programs are in line with MBEF standards. Our international clients have consistently honored us with awards, such as the Supply Chain & Quality Improvement Plan (SQIP) awards from Airbus, the Quality Excellence Award from Spirit AeroSystems and the Perfect Delivery Award from Collins Aerospace. We’re truly grateful to our management for believing in our abilities, which has been crucial in establishing CTRM as a respected and reliable organization,” Shamsuddin Mohamed Yusof said. 

“The road to success has its ups and downs. From June 2023 to May 2024, our amazing team of 30 members worked tirelessly, putting in a total of 2900 hours to create 95 presentation slides for pitching sessions at MITI and on-site assessment (OSA). It was quite a journey, but we poured our hearts into making sure that the presentations effectively conveyed the intended message and objectives,” he added. 

“This achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team as trusted strategic partners in the aerospace industry. Our enduring mission drives every part of our operations forward,” concluded Shamsudin Mohamed Yusof with enthusiasm.

CTRM places a strong emphasis on sustainability and upholds a comprehensive business excellence framework that covers manufacturing and business best practices, continuous improvements and digitalization initiatives. Over the past decade, CTRM has been the only aerospace manufacturing company in the Tier-2 category to generate over RM500 million in annual local revenue, and this is a great source of pride for this achievement.
