CTRM expanded its sustainability efforts by launching the Energy Sustainability Program, marked by the successful completion of a 1.904 MW Roof Top Solar PV System installation on the main building (B3). This initiative, led by the CTRM Solar PV Committee, builds upon a smaller pilot project from 2019 that installed a 9.24 kWp Solar PV system on a motorcycle parking lot. The Solar PV Committee, composed of Steering, Operation Improvement, Technical, and Support teams, has worked on this project since 2016 to mitigate the impact of rising energy costs, with TNB bills expected to increase by 10% every three years. In 2019, the team visited top solar panel manufacturers in China to evaluate their products, ultimately selecting the most feasible and attractive self-investment model for the solar PV system. The pilot project delivered positive results, leading to the larger installation. During the launch, CEO Shamsuddin Mohamed Yusof praised the committee for their efforts and symbolically switched on the spotlight to represent the sun shining on the solar panels.
